FASHION IS MY LIFE....

Last night, in a not so sleepy Fort Collins, CO, some friends and I went to the super indie theatre, Lyric, and saw the raw and beautiful portrait of Vogue as they prepared for the most critical issue of the year, September. This docu was a peek inside the world that those obsessed by the art of fashion, long to know. Anna Wintour, editor in chief for Vogue, in all of her rigid and fragile glory, along with creative director, Grace, were exposed in such a subtly painful way that we were completely captivated. It was like being kids in a candy store, we could not get enough and are still not full. Talking about it this morning with my friend, I have to wonder, why we are so obsessed? For me, it is art, it is the beauty of each piece that allows me to express myself uniquely on a daily basis. And even though fashion is cyclical and we see the same things over and over, it is never exactly the same as before, slightly tweaked in this way or that, add a stitch here, a flower there, a belt with this or a boot with that. It is all about creativity.

 

So when I think about marketing fashion, I get giddy because I love it and this is how we should all feel about the businesses we are marketing- absolutely enthralled by the product or service we rep. If you don't feel that passion, it might be time for a change because ultimately, you could be disserving the very brand that is paying your bills. Love what you market, feel the passion and the joy and your target market will too!
